On the day...
The day begins with registration, this is the perfect opportunity to meet other players and exchange thoughts on all things Slide. The teaching opens with Kevin’s highly entertaining introduction to the World of Slide guitar, his inspirations and thoughts provide an insight into why he set up the school and how he sees it as a vital part in helping to pin down the fundamental skills required to explore the fascination new world of slide guitar.
The first tuition session then takes place with either Kevin or the guest tutor. The tuition is aided by full course notes that can be followed on the day and then taken home for further study bringing the student up to the next level at the following Slideschool. Or the student may wish to stay at one level over a few courses. The content is never repeated so there is no danger of going over the same old ground.
The afternoon begins with the second tuition session for levels 1, 2, 3, when students switch tutors. The plenary session begins with a demonstration of weissenborn/dobro and electric lap styles. This features Phillip Henry and Kevin Brown on weissenborn and electric lap styles respectively.
The classes then retire until the evening concert in the beautiful main church. This event is free to the students but entry for guests is £10.00. All guest tickets should be booked in advance (see booking details).
Throughout the day Ian Mcwee from Diamond bottlenecks will be displaying hand made slides. These handblown glass slides are perfect for both beginners and experienced players alike.
