Slide Guitar
For those students wanting to learn slide guitar I can offer a set of three 'four part courses' that are taken in turn. These courses can run according to the individual pace of each student and are based on the teaching methods that have been cultivated over the years in my very successful 'Slide School'. I teach from home but can also, if required, travel accordingly.

Also one off 'booster' lessons can be arranged to help students get out of a rut or realise new potential for their own slide playing.

Lap Steel/Weissenborn
I now offer a four part introductory course on both electric lap steel and Weissenborn style playing. These lessons explore the basic understanding of 6 string playing using the E ‘mother’ tuning as well as a simple transition to A and finally C6th.

Weissenborn again starts in open D or E and moves on to open C to fully explore both American and Celtic influences. Instruments can be provided for all these courses if the student is unable to provide them.

Workshops

Festivals and Guitar weekends
I am often asked about bringing my Slide School expertise to various festivals or guitar weekends. I offer both beginners andi ntermediate workshops including course notes and audio CDs of the lessons.

These have been very popular with festival organisers as it gives them something else to offer as well as a concert performance. Both these workshops last an hour; the great benefit to the student is that they can see the lessons 'brought to life' during any accompanying performance.

Seminars - The art of live performing.
For music technology students in both further and higher education

As a professional musician who has worked within all the major areas of the music business from running a record label to touring, I am often called upon to pass on my experiences to Music Technology and Commercial Music Students.

My Seminars based around 'The Art of live Performing' cover every aspect of what it takes to survive within the modern day industry. From writing material, getting the gig, to sales, promotion, touring and stagecraft I have first hand knowledge how to succeed and stay ahead of the game.

'The Art of Live Performing' can be two 45-minute talks or one lecture depending upon the student’s timetable. It is illustrated with live performance as well as a PowerPoint demonstration. I have found that students are left in no doubt about the actual 'real world' demands of what it takes to survive within the music business. It is amusing, enlightening and a valuable 'plug in' to any course connected to the music Industry.

"Kevin is an enlightened speaker who understands the needs of students, I ensure all students attend at least one of his lectures during the course of their studies".
Dave Boothroyd Senior lecturer. Worcester College

"To have the insight of an artist who has worked both at the top and at grass roots level was one of the highlights of my time at Worcester. An entertaining and highly informative speaker".
